Fire Alarm Systems
The purpose of a fire alarm system is to alert building occupants in the early stages of a fire condition. It is essential this equipment is correctly maintained and regularly tested under BS 5839. We can install, maintain, commission and repair all types of commercial and domestic fire alarm systems. We also offer a 24/7 out-of-hours call-out service.
Passive Fire Stopping
Passive fire stopping is the use of fire-resisting materials or specialist intumescent coatings/sealants to separate the building into manageable risk areas, thereby providing an inert solution to minimise the spread of fire between compartments. This is a requirement for all buildings, whether commercial or residential, and is a highly regulated area. We can provide assessment, installation and maintenance of passive fire stopping measures, in accordance with BS 476.
Fire Risk Assessments
Every building generates hazards and risks, and to ensure the safety of all persons at the premises these must be professionally assessed from a Fire Safety perspective. The objective of a Fire Risk Assessment is to suitably identify and report on these risks, as well as highlighting actions required and suitable recommendations to establish and maintain fire safety at the premises and its vicinity. It is a legal requirement to carry out Fire Risk Assessments on all commercial buildings and have this reviewed regularly as per the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Our Fire Risk Assessments are carried out to PAS 79 methodology and our assessors are members of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM).
Fire Doors
Fire doors play a critical role in preventing the spread of smoke and flames in buildings and are a legal requirement for all commercial and business properties, as well as public buildings, blocks of flats and HMOs. We offer a full fire door surveying service for all property types, as well as installation, maintenance and repairs to ensure compliance with The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022.
AOV Systems
AOV systems are designed to release any smoke caused by a fire from a building. They can assist and save the lives of those who may still be trapped inside or trying to escape the burning building as well as helping fire fighters when they arrive at the scene. It is crucial that the AOV systems are regularly tested to ensure correct operation. We are able to install, service and carry out repairs to most types of commonly used systems.
Fire Extinguishers
The correct use of an appropriate fire extinguisher can be the difference between a small fire and a life-threatening blaze. We are experienced in assessing, implementing and maintaining fire extinguisher apparatus to ensure compliance with BS 5306-3 and BS 5306-8.
Emergency Lighting Systems
Emergency lighting is a vital part of your building. It is designed to illuminate in the event of a power failure to aid safe escape from the building. Emergency lighting needs to comply to BS 5266 and requires periodic testing. We are able to offer installation, regular testing and repairs of all types of emergency lighting.
Sprinkler Systems
Research from the National Fire Chiefs Council has shown that "sprinkler systems operate on 94% of occasions, and when they do operate, sprinklers control or put out fires 99% of the time". Moreover, they are a legal requirement for specific properties. We service and repair sprinkler systems in line with BS 9251 and BS EN 12845.
Dry Risers
Dry risers are a network of pipes and valves that allow firefighters to pump water to the upper levels of a building, which helps them to put out fires more efficiently. There are regulations surrounding the maintenance of dry risers in the UK - we can carry out both visual inspections and wet tests, in accordance with BS 9990.
Compartmentation Surveys
A fire compartmentation survey assesses the effectiveness of measures used within a building to contain smoke and flames. This involves reviewing the building's fire plan or strategy, as well as inspecting physical barriers and void spaces, to ensure compliance with the standards set out in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Building Fire Strategies
Buildings over a certain height require a Building Fire Strategy according to the Fire Safety England Regulations 2022. We are able to survey premises and produce and install fire safety strategies for both commercial and residential properties.
